The coach of the San Jose Sharks announced on Monday afternoon following their game 6 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night that Thornton was playing with a torn ACL and MCL.  On April 3rd it came out that Thornton had a lower body injury turns out it was an ACL and MCL pretty crazy for him to be able to battle through it and play.  Joe Thornton is a UFA this summer this could have big implications on what teams are interested in him considering the recovery time that will be needed for the 37 year old to return to the ice.
