Not even 24 hours after Bruins breakup day Bruce Cassidy was named the head coach. This was expected after he turned around the Bruins season and got them into the playoffs.
Cassidy was hired in early February and led the Bruins to a 18-8-1 regular season record before falling it Ottawa in 6 games. Since Cassidy took over behind the bench the B’s ranked 1st in goals per game (3.37), 1st in fewest shots allowed (741), tied for 2nd in wins (18), tied for 2nd in PP percentage (27.8%), tied for 3rd in goals allowed per game (2.30), tied for 5th in face-off percentage (53.6%) and tied for 6th in takeaways (229).
With the lack of other head coaching candidates around the league this came as no surprise the players love Cassidy and the results spoke for themselves.
Bruce Cassidy is the 28th coach in the history of the Boston Bruins.
