Bruins Predators Recap

On Thursday night the Bruins opened up their 2017-2018 season against the defending western conference champions without Patrice Bergeron, David Backes and Torey Krug.

The kids looked great and produced, McAvoy, DeBrusk and Bjork combined for 5 points and were making impacts all over the ice.

David Krejci who missed the majority of the playoffs last year came back looking better than ever, playing on a line with 2 rookies, Krejci produced 3 assists and looked better than he has at any point in the past 2-3 years.

Zdeno Chara and Brandon Carlo looked great again in hopes of being the Bruins shutdown defensive pair, they combined for 1 point and a +2.

Tuukka Rask looked very comfortable after a shaky preseason game and proves he is still an elite goalie in this league with a strong performance vs Nashville.

The game itself, sure there were shaky moments toward the end when the Bruins let Nashville back in the game but the Bruins for the most part were far an away the better team versus one of the best teams in the league.

Penalties, one of my concerns after the preseason was if the Bruins would cut down on the amount of penalties they were taking and it seems like it carried over to the regular season with Nashville getting 7 power-plays.

Vatrano and Beleskey both who battled through the preseason to get roster spots did not have a strong game. Neither were noticeable on the ice and combined for 17 minutes of ice time, no points and one penalty.

The last minute thirty seconds of the game where the Bruins allowed Nashville to score two goals to make it a one goal game.

Next game Monday vs Colorado at 1pm EST
